About the Role

Peraton supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mission by engineering, operating, and modernizing a nationwide data center portfolio. Our team hosts critical systems for Veterans, providing full-lifecycle data center and cloud engineering, 24x7 operations, and facility infrastructure reporting. Your work will directly impact Veterans' care and benefits.

Responsibilities

Lead complex data center engineering, modernization, capacity, resiliency, and infrastructure-optimization initiatives.
Own the technical outcome for assigned engineering workstreams, guiding junior engineers and providing design authority on reviews.
Author reference designs and standards content across power, cooling, cabling, and compute domains.
Serve as senior technical interface to VA stakeholders during design reviews, site assessments, and modernization planning.

Requirements

Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust — High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or a related field; 8+ years of data center engineering experience with a demonstrated record leading modernization/capacity work.
Master's degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years of required experience.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable.
Associate's degree + 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels.

Data center monitoring and management tools including Nlyte Asset Optimizer / Energy Optimizer (DCIM), ServiceNow (ITSM/CMDB), SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, PuTTY, Wireshark, PowerShell, Python, Power BI, MS Visio, and SharePoint.
AutoCAD, TileFlow familiarity.
