About the Role
You will be coding on the frontend and backend of systems to showcase journalism, craft tools for journalists, or develop services for global distribution and monetization using emerging markets and AI technologies. You will work in a cross-functional, empowered team that iterates rapidly and releases new features. Collaboration is key, involving pair programming and close work with editorial and commercial colleagues. Engineers participate in both product and technical decisions and are encouraged to grow through opportunities to move between teams and learn new skills and technologies. Much of the code is open-source, and developers often attend and present at conferences.

Requirements
- Comfortable working on both the back-end and front-end.
- Solid back-end knowledge in an equivalent programming language if not familiar with Scala.
- Willingness to learn Typescript on the job if you have a Javascript background.
