About the Role
This role provides technical guidance and engineering solutions for mechanical and plumbing systems in commercial/industrial buildings, ensuring integration with project goals. The position involves leading the design, oversight, and execution of HVAC, plumbing, and process piping for infrastructure, with a focus on system reliability and value engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead oversight and technical guidance of project engineering solutions for mechanical and plumbing systems in commercial/industrial buildings.
- Corroborate and coordinate with other design team members, including clients and engineers, to ensure systems align with project goals.
- Lead the design, design oversight, and execution of HVAC, plumbing, and process piping for infrastructure.
- Develop and coordinate system reliability plans through assessments, design reviews, and power system studies.
- Develop detailed engineering designs for systems, including the review, selection, and specification of air handlers, exhaust fans, compressors, vacuum pumps, and plumbing fixtures.
- Review and design in-house and outside consultant work.
- Execute mechanical designs in accordance with company and client standards.
- Maintain a strong understanding of applicable Codes and Standards.
- Implement value engineering and buildability improvements to enhance building performance.
- Conduct feasibility studies, detailed designs, and provide commissioning support for major infrastructure.
- Perform high-quality technical reviews and produce occasional outputs such as layouts, specifications, datasheets, and P&IDs.
- Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, blowers, valves, screening, dosing, and odor control systems.
- Conduct site investigations and engage with internal contractors and suppliers.
- Integrate constructability and commissioning into design solutions early in the process.
Requirements
- 8-10 years of experience.
- Proficient in computer use and software including AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, Word, Bluebeam, and Navisworks.
- Communication skills sufficient to work directly with directors, managers, and customers, requiring professionalism.
- Background in engineering design of electrical systems and distribution components.
- Ability to use good judgment and make decisions with authority.
- Prior experience in facilities infrastructure and/or utility-scale microgrids.
- Understanding of central HVAC and process equipment.
- Understanding of applicable Codes and Standards.
