About the Role

AECOM's Data Centre MEP team is seeking an experienced Electrical/Power Monitoring and Controls System Engineer (EPMS/PMS) to lead design solutions and project delivery for hyperscale and co-location data centres. The role involves working with a team of engineers, engaging with stakeholders, and driving innovation in smart building technologies.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and oversee contractor implementation of EPMs systems across any architecture, ensuring they meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.
Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including clients, architects, M&E teams, contractors, and senior management, building strong relationships and providing expert advice.
Manage complex projects from start to finish conducting feasibility studies, developing specifications and point schedules, tender management, cost and bid analysis, and progress reporting.
Conduct system surveys, assessments, and FAT/SAT testing, providing clear reports, recommendations, and training for clients to optimize performance and efficiency.
Drive business development, mentor and grow the EPMS/PMS team, manage knowledge sharing, and contribute to innovation in smart building technologies.
Promote Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) best practices, solving technical challenges while ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of safety.
Support the integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, applying expertise in open communication standards and advanced EPM/PMS technologies.
Occasionally travel nationally to project sites and AECOM offices, while balancing office-based work with flexible remote working arrangements.

Requirements

Ideally with data centre experience, enthusiasm, confidence and ability to run projects and take ownership for project delivery.
Ability to work with a team of electrical and mechanical engineers across a wide project portfolio as the EPM/PMS lead driving design solutions in this specialist area.
Experienced in data centre design or exposure to this sector and the basic design principles of electrical services in data centre or industrial facilities.
A proven track record of leading and delivering EPMS and controls designs across different system architecture, project size and complexity.
A team player, who can confidently deliver electrical designs in conjunction with and in close collaboration with our other building services and wider disciplines.
Post Graduate experience in a building services design role with particular focus on data centres.
The ability to approach projects with forward thinking, open mindedness, confident in liaising with clients, project managers and contractors.
Familiar with the relevant regulations, standards and industry good practice requirements, able to produce designs relevant to all stages of RIBA plan of work and possess the skills to undertake site supervision and inspection roles, produce feasibility reports, from which designs can be prepared.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to work with clients, architects, M&E contractors, and senior stakeholders.
Possess a full clean driving licence and passport, be willing and able to travel to projects across the region and beyond, on occasion staying over and including internationally.
Security Clearance will be required to work on some projects so you will need to be able to fulfil the criteria to obtain this.
All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
