Responsibilities
- Lead oversight of project engineering solutions for LV and MV power in commercial/industrial buildings, coordinating with other design team members and the client.
- Lead the design, oversight, and execution of low to medium voltage (1kV to 35kV) distribution systems for infrastructure, including developing system reliability plans.
- Develop detailed engineering designs for systems, including the review/selection and specification of transformers, switchgear, breakers, and cables.
- Review/Design protection and control (P&C) schemes, including developing protective relay settings and creating relaying diagrams and control schematics.
- Execute electrical designs in accordance with company and client standards.
- Understand electrical distribution equipment, workspace requirements, general power for mission-critical data centers, and lighting layout and controls.
- Use Revit to model electrical system components according to department and client procedures and standards.
- Prepare backup documentation for design efforts, including load calculations, voltage drop calculations, and lighting power density.
- Maintain a strong understanding of applicable Codes and Standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- 15+ years’ experience designing electrical systems in high-performance facilities.
- Proficient in computer use and software including AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Navisworks.
- Communication skills sufficient to work directly with directors, managers, and customers, requiring professionalism.
- Background in engineering design of electrical systems and distribution components.
- Ability to use good judgment and make decisions with authority.
- Prior experience in facilities infrastructure and/or utility-scale microgrids.
- Experience in construction and renovation projects.
- Aerospace and defense industry experience requiring adherence to specific ICDs and DoD construction standards is a plus.
- Demonstrated success developing direct reports through effective leadership and goal setting.
