About the Role
Support activities for complex avionics electronics systems in growing avionics business areas. Controls and Avionics Solutions provides flight and mission-critical products to commercial and military customers globally, including fly-by-wire flight controls, pilot controls, FADEC, power management systems, flight deck systems, and more.
Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in hardware design of Electronics Packaging towards design of electronics enclosures and/or CCA’s for commercial and military aircraft applications, including flight critical controls systems and non-flight critical high reliability electronics.
- Perform design of high reliability electronics package enclosures.
- Support mechanical design aspects of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and Printed Wiring Boards (PWB).
- Design to meet environmental and reliability requirements for military and commercial aircraft programs.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across functions, especially manufacturing, to achieve optimal design and manufacture of equipment.
- Support concept designs in support of proposals on an as-needed basis.
- Develop test plans for Qualification, Accelerated Life testing, Stress Screening, Reliability growth, and Design Verification.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of related experience OR 15+ years of related experience.
- At least twelve (12) years of experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and Design of Electronics Assemblies.
- Familiarity and experience with assembly design in military, aircraft, or other high reliability electronics packaging environment.
- Experience with mechanical and/or electrical aspects of circuit card assembly and printed wiring board design in military, aircraft, or other high reliability electronics packaging environment.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment while complying with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Experience writing and executing test plans for environmental testing of high reliability electronics (thermal, vibration, humidity, etc.).
- Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
- Sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
- Working knowledge of drawing and configuration management practices.
- Utilize computer skills to prepare reports and documents.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) practices and manufacturing equipment.
- Experience recognizing and solving failure modes in high reliability environments.
- Ability to effectively lead a team in the solution of open-ended problems.
- Ability to coach and teach others in the organization.
