About the Role

The Bar Manager at Soho House is responsible for overseeing the beverage operation within the department, floor or property, ensuring its overall success and supporting the management team. Key responsibilities include managing stock, leading the team through development and recruitment, and ensuring efficient bar operations to provide an excellent member and guest experience.

Responsibilities

Manage team members in all aspects including recruiting, training, schedules, payroll, staff complaints and disciplinary procedures.
Assess team members performance, conduct appraisals, and strategize for making improvements.
Organize monthly team member meetings with a set agenda.
Receive deliveries for stock and inventory.
Place orders for inventory based on business needs and budgets.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and sanitized bar.
Ensure all menus are up-to-date and correct.
Ensure all legal requirements are adhered to (i.e. rest breaks, working hours, pay and Health & Safety).
Report bar stock shortages (glasses & equipment).
Review and address Mystery Shopper reports with appropriate actions.
Actively participate as a member of the management team in decision-making processes and attend required meetings.
Delegate work and determine beverage methods to team members throughout the shift.
Oversee daily/shift schedules and make necessary changes per business need and budget.
Ensure maximum revenue is achieved from all sales opportunities.
Drive House Tonic program, conduct related trainings, and support global competitions.
Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant General Manager & General Manager.
Ensure cleanliness standards and procedures for the unit and their areas are in accordance with site, company, and legal standards.
Ensure all new starters are rigorously trained to standards and competencies.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience in a busy high-profile venue.
Natural flair for first-class service in a similar role.
Reliable, friendly, and a key part of a team striving for success.
Innovator and influencer with previous experience managing F&B operations.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships (internal and external).
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent customer service.
Fluent in Japanese and advanced English.
Organized and reliable.
Ability to work and maximize relationships within a diverse team.
Computer literacy within Opera, Micros, and Adaco is advantageous.
Manage end-to-end inventory logistics, including weekly stock takes, ordering, variance tracking, and vendor negotiations to protect profit margins.
Personal license holder.
2 years or more working experience as a leader in a diversity environment.
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects by hand.
Able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
