About the Role
The Senior Grants Officer will administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities, acting as a key point of contact for external liaison. This role involves developing and delivering events for grant holders and contributing to the Academy’s wider strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Process applications, determining eligibility and coordinating peer review.
- Convene and support the grant selection panel, including preparing committee papers, reports, and financial information, and providing feedback to applicants.
- Manage new and existing grants within the Academy's portfolio.
- Support the monitoring of awards and evaluation of grants schemes.
- Analyze data and prepare reports to demonstrate scheme impact.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date data on grants.
- Research and report on initiatives by other UK funders.
- Engage with the Academy’s Fellowship in various capacities (peer reviewers, panel members, etc.).
- Act as an external point of contact for grants schemes, providing advice to applicants, awardees, and host organizations.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with scheme funders.
- Collaborate with other Academy staff, particularly within the Grants & Programmes department.
- Support the development and delivery of events for Academy grant holders.
- Contribute to the Academy’s wider work, including drafting papers for governing committees.
- Act as line-manager or project manager for Academy interns on a rotation basis.
- Perform other reasonably expected duties commensurate with the post level.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Confident and friendly team player/collaborator.
- Interest in biomedical and health research.
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft suite and online databases.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines with precision.
- Commitment to the Academy’s purpose and work.
- Ability to travel from time to time in the UK or abroad, with occasional overnight stays.
