About the Role
The Friedrich-Althoff-Konsortium (FAK) is being integrated into the KOBV Central Office as a consortium office. This role involves the strategic and professional leadership of the FAK, including managing the consortium office and its strategic development as part of the KOBV Central Office's structural support tasks.
Responsibilities
- Strategic and professional leadership of the Friedrich-Althoff-Consortium, including steering the consortium office and strategic development of the FAK as part of the KOBV Central Office's structural support tasks.
- Negotiation and contract management, particularly negotiation with academic publishers and other providers of electronic resources and open access offerings.
- Review, renegotiation, and preparation of license agreements from economic, technical, and professional perspectives.
- Monitoring and analysis of the academic and publication market, especially regarding electronic resources, licensing models, and open access developments.
- Conceptual support and further development of the Electronic Resource Management System (ERMS), including ensuring data quality and transparency.
- Advising and supporting participating institutions on products, licenses, and the FAK's service portfolio, as well as coordination with other consortia.
- Representing the FAK in regional and supra-regional networks, committees, and working groups, and co-shaping joint strategies and negotiation positions at the federal level.
- Promoting community building and knowledge transfer, especially through the conception and execution of specialist events, lectures, and discussion formats.
- Contributing to the professional and strategic development of the KOBV.
Requirements
- Completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma, Magister, State Examination), preferably in Library and Information Science, Information Management, Law, Economics, Media, or related fields, or comparable qualifications.
- Extensive relevant professional experience and sound knowledge in the area of consortium acquisition and licensing of electronic resources, particularly in license negotiations, academic publishing, and the open access context.
- Proven experience in leading complex projects, work areas, or organizational units, ideally in a library or science-related environment.
- Negotiation skills, organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficient use of digital tools and systems, especially ERMS systems.
- High communication and moderation competence, confident and professional demeanor, even in interdisciplinary and intercultural contexts.
- High degree of initiative, resilience, responsibility, and a structured, solution-oriented approach to work.
- Fluent German language skills, very good English language skills.
- Enjoyment of knowledge transfer, professional exchange, and community building.
