About the Role

The Amazon Robotics Infrastructure Engineering team is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to design, deploy, and enable networks that set the global standard for performance, availability, security, and cost. This role involves creating next-generation network products using open-source tools and partnering with IT support teams for operational readiness. You will tackle complex, novel situations, work with diverse technical teams, and embrace ambiguity to solve problems at scale.

Responsibilities

Write code for demanding, cross-functional networking projects.
Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
Comprehend system inter-connections and limitations.
Research and benchmark Amazon technology against industry systems.
Contribute intellectual property through patents.
Assist in the career development of others through mentoring.
Deliver automation for building and decommissioning network infrastructure.
Create new tools or improve existing ones for network operators.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience leading large projects.
Expert-level technical background in current networking technologies.
Ability to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment.
Ability to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives.
Ability to roll up sleeves and get the job done.
Anticipate bottlenecks, influence external vendors and internal team roadmaps.
Provide escalation management.
Anticipate and make tradeoffs.
Balance business needs versus technical constraints.
3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
Experience with Linux/Unix.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
Experience with distributed systems at scale.
Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
