The position requires an audience-first mindset, shaping compelling content for both podcast and terrestrial radio formats. Responsibilities include steering editorial meetings, stimulating creative discussions, identifying impactful stories, and reacting decisively to major developments to ensure audiences receive timely content. The role also involves supporting colleagues during extended live coverage and requires extensive studio skills in a fast-paced environment. • Collaborate across CBC News platforms to coordinate content, such as raw sound, clipped material, and packaged audio items.
  • Actively support staff development, provide ongoing constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Connect regularly with senior leadership about staffing and scheduling requirements and team culture.
  • Translate insights and data to guide content decisions to expand reach to new and younger news consumers, and to deepen engagement with all Canadians.
  • Strictly uphold CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices at all times.
  • Step in to perform all or part of the functions of an equivalent or lower classification as needed.
