About the Role
This apprenticeship offers a chance to work on critical vehicles, gain hands-on experience, learn from experts, and build a career maintaining Fire and Rescue NSW vehicles to ensure firefighters are ready for action.
Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams for service, repairs, and maintenance.
- Utilize vehicle diagnosis equipment and software.
- Use precision measuring devices correctly.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and various workshop equipment.
- Use welding and oxy acetylene cutting equipment.
- Service, repair, maintain, and inspect all FRNSW vehicles and appliances.
- Use the FRNSW Fleet Management Computer System.
- Participate in field service work.
Requirements
- Possess mechanical aptitude for heavy vehicle repair, service, and maintenance.
- Ability to complete the training course.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated motivation and interest in the trade.
- Eligible for a Record of School Achievement (RoSA) before apprenticeship commencement.
- Successful completion of the School Certificate.
