About the Role
RSM is seeking a Senior Associate for its assurance team to work on diverse client engagements, helping companies improve performance through challenging business cycles.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality client service, including coordinating audits, review engagements, and compilations of financial statements and related disclosures.
- Develop an understanding of client businesses and needs, becoming an industry specialist.
- Utilize RSM’s review, compilation, and audit methodology.
- Collaborate with engagement managers on the audit approach and execute the plan using a risk-based approach.
- Recognize and address industry-specific and general accounting and auditing issues.
- Provide insightful feedback on financial statements and prepare client deliverables.
- Supervise associates, monitor productivity, and report on adherence to work plans and budgets.
- Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as needed.
- Ensure efficient information flow between clients and the audit team.
- Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to engagement leadership.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities for team members.
- Recognize opportunities for RSM to expand services to clients.
- Manage time effectively across multiple projects.
- Stay informed of industry developments through continuous learning.
- Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
- Willingness to travel 25% of the year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited university.
- Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure, including required CPA PEP courses.
- 2-3 years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and auditing software tools.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, CASs, or other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Experience supporting audit engagements from planning through completion.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with firm personnel and clients.
- Effective project management skills, including managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
- Ability to work extended or non-standard hours during peak periods.
- Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours and travel to client sites.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move miscellaneous items (typically under 20 lbs.).
