About the Role
This is a key leadership opportunity for an innovative and entrepreneurial leader in food and nutrition services within an acute care hospital setting. The Director will ensure client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management, overseeing all food service operations including patient care, retail, cafeteria, catering, quality improvement, and clinical nutrition.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and implements budgets for labor, expense, and income, monitoring progress towards organizational goals.
- Monitors and improves the quality of services and products to meet customer expectations.
- Coordinates with FNS management to achieve optimal quality and cost levels in production.
- Administers Human Resources Policies consistently within the department.
- Collaborates with Patient Care Services and Clinical Nutrition Manager to ensure consistent patient care and monitoring of clinical outcomes.
- Manages the purchasing system and contracts with group purchasing organizations, ensuring quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinates with affiliate managers and external agencies for regulatory compliance.
- Administers departmental policies and procedures, ensuring consistent implementation.
- Manages and implements the Vending Operation to achieve service and income goals.
- Develops and implements departmental integrated service plans.
- Develops, secures approval for, and administers individual capital budgets.
Requirements
- 8-10 years of experience in healthcare or hospitality industry.
- At least 5 years of management-level experience.
- Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, including quality, production sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills.
- American National Standards Institute accredited Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe, NRFSP).
