About the Role

The HIM Records Management Specialist Lead is responsible for the overall integrity of document scanning, indexing, corrections, forms control, inventory management, and organizational document storage, archiving, and destruction. This role provides training support, addresses questions and issues in the manager's absence, and serves as a super user for internal and external parties.

Responsibilities

  • Supports EHR workflow design, optimization, and automation.
  • Develops training materials, SOPs, and supports team training.
  • Creates ad-hoc reports and analyzes data using EHR systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert/super-user for applicable systems and workflows.
  • Ensures medical records are accurate, accessible, secure, and compliant.
  • Prepares, scans, indexes, and quality-checks medical records.
  • Conducts imaging and quality control audits to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Manages paper chart requests, retention, and destruction processes.
  • Troubleshoots issues and provides support in the manager's absence.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and vendors to resolve errors and improve processes.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and organizational health information regulations.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Skills

  • EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech
  • Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint

Experience Level

  • 1-2+ years of experience in Health Information Management or other Healthcare setting
  • 3+ years of experience in Document Lifecycle Management

Education Level

  • Associate degree preferred

  • $19.00 - $20.75
