About the Role

The Insurance Liaison Assistant Nurse assists Insurance Liaison staff in gathering data and information for appropriate reimbursement from payers. This role involves direct contact with internal teams, clinical and administrative staff, and external customers.

Responsibilities

Prepares documentation as requested by the insurance liaison.
Manages processes efficiently to streamline team operations.
Maintains all files in an organized manner.
Receives and reviews communication from Professional Home Visiting Staff regarding patients’ needs, plan of care, and interventions.
Accurately documents approvals or denials using current software systems.
Responds professionally to internal and external customer inquiries regarding insurance coordination.
Inputs insurance authorization data and completes tasks to ensure timely authorization of services.
Reviews referrals for payers requiring authorizations to ensure ongoing authorizations are obtained.
Utilizes Medicare home care guidelines in establishing home care referrals.
Answers calls and obtains pertinent information to identify and assess caller’s needs.
Collects, documents, and provides reports of required data.
Builds and maintains productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
Provides back up and support for special assignments or tasks assigned to RN Insurance Coordinators and Manager.
Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies’ mission and values.
Maintains high regard for member privacy.
Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of home health care LPN experience preferred.
Prior Insurance Coordination experience preferred.
Current LPN licensure in State of New York.
Sedentary physical requirements: prolonged sitting, minimal physical effort, lifting under 10 lbs, fine motor skills, clear visual and auditory ability.
High cognitive and emotional demands: extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, information processing.
