About the Role
Assists patients with therapy activities and exercises as part of a treatment plan to improve their quality of life and ability to perform daily activities, under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
Responsibilities
- Provides, monitors, and records therapy services to patients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments.
- Selects, implements, and modifies therapeutic activities and interventions consistent with competency levels, patient goals, and practice setting requirements.
- Exchanges information with and provides documentation to the occupational therapist regarding patient responses and communications during intervention.
- Maintains knowledge of patient's targeted occupational therapy outcomes and provides information related to outcome achievement.
- Adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
- May focus on patients in post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments depending on location and facility needs.
Requirements
- Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice.
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility, must be certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Conforms to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided.
- May require a valid driver's license when applicable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.
