About the Role
KPMG is seeking an Intern to join their Ignition practice, focusing on reimagining tax with technology and innovation. This role offers a dynamic, collaborative, and future-forward environment within one of the top tax firms globally.
Responsibilities
- Identify business challenges with internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Understand operational, data, and information requirements for tax processes, including technology environments and interfaces.
- Assist the team in providing recommendations and innovative, technology-driven approaches for improvement, optimizing resources, processes, controls, and technology.
- Work toward specialization in various ERP, low code/no code technologies, generative AI, tax systems, and tax applications.
- Assist the team with the collection and extraction of complex datasets from various source systems and file types.
- Load datasets into various software platforms and tools, and normalize, aggregate, and combine data sets into usable forms.
- Test data for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist the team with proof of concepts, workshops, hackathons, and vendor product evaluations.
- Help prepare documentation and analytical reports summarizing procedures, assumptions, and conclusions.
- Support project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Accounting, Tax, Business Analytics, Data & Analytics, Economics, Finance, Management Information Systems, Statistics, or equivalent program.
- Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred.
- Basic knowledge of one or more technologies such as Excel, VBA, Power Query/Power Pivot, Alteryx, Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, generative AI, SharePoint, R, Python, SQL Server, SAP, Oracle, ONESOURCE tax applications, Corptax, Longview.
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills.
- Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes.
- Professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated quality service mindset and strong technical aptitude.
- Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and MS Office Applications.
- Apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
- Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
- Feedback oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office.
- Able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation.
- Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Consideration for employment for Los Angeles County applicants will include qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records, in accordance with relevant ordinances.
