About the Role
As a Datacenter Critical Environment Technician (CET) Intern, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services. This internship offers trainings and growth opportunities, including Career Rotation Programs, Diversity & Inclusion trainings and events, and professional certifications.
Responsibilities
- Learn to operate all systems and equipment safely and professionally, understanding associated risks.
- Perform basic monitoring and inspection of critical environment-related facility equipment, building, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions.
- Monitor the performance of maintenance and operations of equipment (e.g., electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety) within the data center.
- Utilize internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track equipment assets and complete work order requests.
- Assist in providing emergency monitoring and response to abnormal conditions under supervision, following emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
- Gather information and participate in the creation of incident timelines, root-cause analyses, and action items.
- Perform various types of maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) following methods of procedure (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with prepping materials and performing administrative tasks as instructed.
- Document maintenance tasks and troubleshooting issues for follow-up and escalate as appropriate.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Currently studying at or graduated from a technical college.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
- Ability to obtain Reliability Status screening from a duly authorized department or agency of the Government of Canada.
- To obtain requisite clearance, applicants must have five (5) years of continuous Canadian residency and must not have lived or worked outside of Canada for more than six (6) months during that time unless Microsoft is satisfied that the requisite clearance can nevertheless be obtained within required timelines.
