About the Role
Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca (F&CS) is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to manage the psychotropic medication needs of clients. This role involves providing high-quality, client-centered mental health services via in-person and telehealth modalities in a supportive and collaborative environment. The position offers diverse clinical experiences with a varied clientele and a commitment to anti-racist practices.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new and returning patients for psychiatric services.
- Manage medication refill requests with clients, supported by a psychiatric nurse and team.
- Monitor and adjust medications, including scheduling extra appointments or calls for urgent needs.
- Consult with in-house therapists regarding shared patients.
- Complete prior authorizations as needed.
- Assist in caseload management by guiding clients to appropriate levels of care.
- Review and sign off on treatment plans completed by therapists.
- Consult with the Incident Review Committee on adverse medication events.
Requirements
- Licensed as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in New York, meeting requirements for independent practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental illnesses, psychotropic medications, and their management.
- Commitment to learning about the impact of culture and identity in healthcare.
- Experience working with clients across the age spectrum, from children to adults.
- Experience working with marginalized communities and intersecting systems (homelessness, poverty, racism, etc.).
- Experience treating co-occurring SUD/MH disorders and willingness to provide MAT.
- Experience in a facility licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health.
