About the Role

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. You will join a diverse team of engineers and specialists, collaborating to maintain high standards of safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost. Responsibilities

• Solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design with internal partner teams.
• Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, focusing on backup power generation (diesel generators, enclosures, aftertreatment systems) and related electrical dependencies.
• Specify appropriate equipment and components with global suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring tier 2-3 supply chain resiliency.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries through testing.
• Validate designs through prototype, pre-production, and first-of-kind builds, conducting DFx and value engineering analysis, and updating designs and documentation.
• Provide support for manufacturing activities for new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
• Act as a leader within the product development team and supporting internal and external teams for data centers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power generation, or oil and gas).
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Experience in Backup Generator with exhaust aftertreatment, Switchgear, or HVAC system product design, product packaging, system integration, and layout design.
• Experience collaborating across Procurement and Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, Commissioning, and suppliers on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), Design for Serviceability (DFS), and/or value engineering.
