About the Role
Alexa Japan Product owns the Alexa+ experience for customers in Japan, working closely with global teams to ensure Alexa+ performs exceptionally well in the Japanese market. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a world-class AI assistant within one of the most demanding and quality-conscious markets, with decisions impacting millions of customers.
Responsibilities
- Own the product roadmap and requirements for your area, defining the customer experience, writing specs and PR/FAQs, and setting success metrics.
- Design acceptance tests that define the product, build the taxonomy of use cases and utterances, write seed test cases, and use AI tooling to expand them.
- Prioritize ruthlessly, deciding what needs to be built, what can be cut, and which quality bars are non-negotiable, making trade-offs explicit.
- Investigate product defects and quality issues, reproducing them, isolating root causes with partners, and turning findings into scoped, prioritized work.
- Partner daily with engineering, applied science, and marketing teams, translating customer needs into technical requirements and aligning stakeholders.
- Represent the Japanese customer, using judgment of language and cultural context to catch problems missed by metrics alone.
- Define KPIs for your area, own launch readiness including go/no-go criteria, and report progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.
- Experience with end-to-end product delivery.
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product.
- Experience in influencing senior leadership through data-driven insights.
- Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- 5+ years of technical product management, program management or engineering experience.
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese at a business level or above (N1+).
- Experience investigating product defects and quality issues and driving them to resolution with engineers.
- Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality.
- Master's degree or above in an advanced technical degree field.
- Experience selling AI/ML solutions.
- Experience managing and delivering product quality or testing.
- Experience with competitive benchmarking and turning the findings into product requirements.
