About the Role
Under the supervision of the School-Age Program Coordinator, responsible for the day-to-day operations and the development of the Warren Street Center school age program, as well as the direct operation of a school age classroom. This includes participating in ongoing staff development and program evaluation, curriculum planning and implementation, parent engagement and program operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the School-Age Coordinator and the Education Director in annually determining the goals and objectives of the school age program, including methods, tasks, resources, and timelines.
- Assist the Education Director and the School-Age Coordinator in establishing mechanisms to assess program quality and impact.
- Ensure the implementation of the center's mission statement, philosophy, and curriculum.
- Observe and assess staff to evaluate service delivery quality and identify development needs, arranging appropriate workshops and off-site training.
- Establish and participate in an in-house staff development training program using modeling and a train-the-trainer approach, including new staff orientation and knowledge sharing.
- Regularly observe and record child behavior and progress to establish individualized education plans, create lesson plans, complete program plans, and develop curriculum.
- Meet regularly with school-age coordinator, education director, and staff for planning, coordination, assessment, and development of program curricula.
- Act as a liaison between the Center and participants' primary caregivers, and the community, establishing communication systems to promote the Center's mission and involve caregivers in their child's education.
- Work with staff and program specialists to develop educational program enhancements tied to the Center's mission, philosophy, and curriculum, establishing mechanisms for planning, monitoring, and assessment.
- Identify and secure resources to strengthen the program, arranging site visits and trips.
- Establish referral procedures and networks to assist staff in addressing participants' educational, health, social, and special needs.
- Assist the School-Age Coordinator and the Education Director in administrative, management, and program matters, including facilitating committees and revising admission procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
