About the Role
This is a senior opportunity-scouting and diligence role focused on identifying and evaluating socially valuable uses of AI that are ready to become real products, services, or organizations. You will assess technical credibility, social value, differentiation, and potential for adoption, making concrete recommendations for the Foundation's next steps.
Responsibilities
- Build a high-quality opportunity pipeline by developing trusted relationships across various sectors.
- Track the AI frontier and connect it to real-world social problems and needs.
- Turn emerging signals into concrete opportunity theses, defining users, problems, interventions, value, differentiation, risks, and adoption paths.
- Conduct technical and strategic diligence, assessing model fit, data requirements, safety, cost, and scalability.
- Pressure-test opportunities in the field through interviews, workshops, and field visits.
- Recommend the path to execution, including funding, partnerships, prototyping, or recruitment.
- Help establish a repeatable scouting and diligence approach for the Foundation.
Requirements
- Deep technical judgment about AI, including current capabilities and limitations.
- Experience building technology or products with first-hand 0-to-1 experience.
- Ability to see important possibilities early and connect emerging technical capabilities to problems.
- Rigor in running ideas down, moving from conversation to evidence.
- Strong portfolio judgment to prioritize opportunities.
- Ability to move fluently across different sectors and translate learnings.
- Sound judgment about safety, equity, local context, and responsible technology deployment.
