About the Role
Veracyte is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join their pioneering team dedicated to transforming cancer care. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives while growing within a purpose-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Accessioning clinical specimens upon receipt and entering data into LIS system.
- Specimen verification, labeling, tracking, and all related clerical functions.
- Identifying specimen processing problems and notifying the supervisor.
- Documenting corrective actions for test system deviations.
- Following established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Understanding compliance regulations related to test ordering.
- Complying with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulations.
- Contributing to laboratory safety by complying with procedures and making recommendations.
- Engaging in training and competency assessments.
- Attending and participating in department meetings.
- Participating in activities associated with regulatory compliance and inspections.
- Assisting in continuous improvement activities/projects.
- Assisting in research and validation activities.
- Performing weekly, monthly, and periodic room and equipment maintenance.
- Tracking and stocking laboratory supplies.
- Performing general clean-up tasks, including breaking down boxes, disinfecting surfaces, and putting away supplies.
- Working cooperatively in a team environment and supporting senior staff.
- Working cross-functionally with Customer Care regarding specimen issues and Accessioning requests.
- Completing administrative duties such as printing, copying, filing, faxing, and quality control of spreadsheets.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of accessioning experience and/or in a lab setting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to navigate efficiently through, or have familiarity with, various laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint).
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork and collaborations skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.
- Repetitive movement of fingers (typing and/or writing).
- Sitting, with occasional walking, standing, stooping and moving about.
- Talking and hearing.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
