About the Role

We are hiring our first People Operations Lead to own HR operations, including benefits, HRIS management, compliance, onboarding, performance cycles, people policies, and culture. This role will be the primary point of contact for employees regarding HR matters and will play a key role in shaping the future of our people function as the company grows.

Responsibilities

  • Own HRIS (Rippling) as system administrator, including configuration, integrations, and data integrity.
  • Maintain employee records and build reporting for leaders on headcount, attrition, and people metrics.
  • Manage benefits programs end to end, including evaluation, renewals, open enrollment, new hire enrollment, life event changes, and terminations.
  • Manage benefits broker, vendors, and 401k administrator.
  • Coordinate leaves of absence from request through return.
  • Serve as the point of contact for employee benefits questions and report on utilization and spend.
  • Ensure compliance in every state where we employ people, covering registrations, I-9s, EEO and state filings, ACA reporting, workers compensation, and unemployment claims.
  • Maintain the compliance calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Run performance review and promotion cycles, owning the timeline, system setup, communications, and calibration materials.
  • Support managers through performance and development cycles.
  • Partner to design and run onboarding and off-boarding programs.
  • Guide new hires from offer acceptance through their first weeks.
  • Handle off-boarding end to end, including transition logistics and documentation.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and people policies.
  • Partner on development and updating of new or existing policies.
  • Own how policies are documented, rolled out, and communicated.
  • Be the first stop for questions about policy application.
  • Invest in improving the employee experience.
  • Propose and run programs, rituals, and communications that strengthen team connection and recognition.
  • Implement methods to gather employee feedback on what is working and what is not.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of progressive HR or people operations experience.
  • At least 3 years in a HR generalist role with broad responsibility.
  • HRIS system administration experience, including implementation or migration, workflow configuration, performance cycles, integrations, audit, and reporting.
  • Direct administration of employee benefits, including annual renewals, open enrollment, carrier and broker management, 401(k) administration, and leave coordination.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations for a multi-state employer, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ACA, I-9 and E-Verify, EEO reporting, and state-specific leave and notice requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort operating without a playbook and creating processes.
