About the Role

The Supervisor, Apprenticeship Services oversees the day-to-day delivery of apprenticeship services within an assigned region, supervising staff to ensure efficient and accurate services. This role acts as a key regional contact for employers, apprentices, and training providers, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support outreach and promotional activities and guide staff responses to inquiries.
  • Schedule work, assign cases, provide coaching, performance feedback, and training.
  • Promote consistency and professionalism across the team and support business continuity needs.
  • Oversee day-to-day regional workloads for accuracy and service timelines.
  • Implement regional processing, exam delivery, and operational priorities.
  • Investigate and resolve service and stakeholder issues.
  • Identify trends, service bottlenecks, and risks, and recommend process enhancements.
  • Supervise staff delivering direct support on training agreements, exam process guidance, and certification steps.
  • Identify recurring barriers and recommend solutions and referrals.
  • Coordinate regional apprenticeship examinations, ensuring compliance with policies and integrity protocols.
  • Manage incident reporting and post-exam handling.
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for employers, apprentices, and training providers.
  • Ensure staff provide accurate guidance and escalate complex matters.
  • Collect and validate regional service data for KPI reporting and program evaluation.
  • Prepare operational summaries for reporting and evaluation.
  • Oversee use of registration platforms, exam scheduling systems, and case management tools.
  • Monitor inventory of exam materials and room resources.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, data standards, and privacy requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, public relations, strategic communications, social services or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leadership and team management.
  • Site supervisory experience along with certified trade certification is an asset.
  • Experience supervising staff in service delivery, testing/exam operations, or education-related environments is an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship programs and workforce development is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of apprenticeship programs and skilled trades careers.
  • Experience in community engagement and partnership development.

  • STO establishes apprenticeship programs, including training standards, curriculum standards and certification exams.
  • STO administers apprenticeship programs, including approving apprentices and sponsors, registering training agreements and assessing applications for apprenticeship program completion.
  • STO issues certificates of apprenticeship to completed Ontario apprentices.
