About the Role
In collaboration with other multi-disciplinary team members, the Behaviour Consultant conducts Functional Behaviour Assessments, designs effective behaviour intervention plans, and conducts analysis of behavioural data for clients with an ASD and/or dual diagnosis and their families, caregivers and educators. The Behaviour Consultant is responsible for training mediators, using BST to implement ABA strategies to support children and youth exhibiting high risk behaviours. In addition, the Behaviour Consultant may be responsible for implementing workshops and training opportunities for individuals or groups.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized ABA-based intervention programs for individuals diagnosed with an ASD and/or other Developmental Disabilities.
- Conduct assessment activities in various settings (in community or in clinic).
- Perform ongoing monitoring and evaluation of intervention programs.
- Conduct research and analysis of best practices.
- Design data collection protocols and interpret data to make data-based decisions.
- Collaborate with third parties such as Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Psychologists.
- Meet and obtain regular feedback from Clinical Supervisor; review client load.
- Provide consultation to families, behaviour mediators and/or other related parties for on-going ABA-based intervention programs.
- Perform functional assessments and design positive behaviour support plans.
- Provide implementation support for positive behaviour support plans.
- Lead team meetings in the family home.
- Participate in clinical meetings with relevant professionals.
- Provide coaching and collaborate on implementation of individualized ABA strategies.
- Provide direction pertaining to the making of individualized materials.
- Present parent training workshops or other presentations to community agencies.
- Participate in meetings with external stakeholders/partners as necessary.
Requirements
- Masters degree with RBA (Ont) designation.
- A minimum of 2 years direct clinical working experience.
- Experience assisting in the design, implementation, and monitoring of individualized ABA-based intervention programs for individuals diagnosed with ASD and/or dual diagnoses.
- Experience training parents, behaviour mediators, and/or other related parties.
- Experience conducting functional assessments and designing positive behaviour support plans with families, schools and/or community programs.
- Demonstrated problem solving and judgment skills.
- Experience mentoring junior staff.
- Good communication skills; experience in presenting to large and small groups.
- Excellent writing skills with previous experience in writing clinical reports.
- Applied knowledge of community-based service delivery systems.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to meet client needs outside normal working hours when necessary.
