About the Role

As a Cook/Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities in their daily lives by providing meal preparation and ensuring living spaces are clean and safe. This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a tangible difference.

Responsibilities

Perform heavy cleaning of the entire house and windows, including bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, bedrooms, and other interior spaces.
Prepare meals, cook, shop for groceries, and plan meals in coordination with nutritionist-prepared menus.
Ensure rotation of perishable foods and discard expired items.
Follow menus and make substitutions according to exchange lists.
Report any maintenance needs or hazardous conditions to the Manager or Maintenance person.
Notify supervisor immediately if house or appliances require repair.
Help schedule and plan parties for special occasions.
Answer the telephone courteously and professionally, taking appropriate messages.
Adhere to OMRDD regulations regarding food, kitchen area, and house cleanliness.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Ability to read, understand, and follow safety guidelines.
Ability to follow safety guidelines in using and disposing of household cleaning products.
Ability to work well with staff members and individuals supported.
Ability to cook following menus and meal preparation guidelines.
Ability to use appropriate tools for general housecleaning.
Must be able to use housecleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and carpet shampoo machines.
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 lbs., bend, twist, kneel, and walk distances sufficient for shopping and housekeeping duties.
