About the Role
The Site Reliability Specialist (SRS) is a specialized role within software engineering focused on maintaining highly reliable and scalable software systems. SRAs execute tasks to maintain the health of the application and services ecosystem, ensuring smooth and reliable operation with excellent user experience. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates.
Responsibilities
- Monitor system performance and availability, identify bottlenecks and points of failures, and take actions to rectify issues.
- Respond promptly to incidents following predefined plans and procedures, including batch jobs, message queues, system integration components, and end-user reported incidents.
- Analyze root causes of incidents following incident response plans.
- Prevent future occurrences of incidents by analyzing and fixing root causes.
- Build effective monitors and alerts to discover errors.
- Use development tools to analyze root causes of problems.
- Develop tools that monitor the ecosystem and enable self-diagnosis.
- Adopt best practices and continuously improve systems and processes to enhance reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with teams like Policy Fulfilment and business stakeholders to determine feasibility and troubleshoot issues.
- Work with external teams (e.g., DCM, Kyndryl) to integrate and optimize document services, providing assistance when needed.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, adopt best practices, and continuously improve systems and processes to enhance reliability and performance.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology or Computer Science with at least 3 years of experience in application support including development and operation.
- Knowledge in software engineering, with proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Knowledge in system administration and managing production environments.
- Proficiency in using monitoring and logging tools to track system performance and discover errors.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams effectively.
- Guidewire certification is an asset.
- Subject to a Background check as a condition of employment.
