About the Role
This is a builder role focused on scaling and owning the operating layer of Hex's legal function. You will manage contract operations end-to-end, build structured intake for legal workstreams, own the legal governance record, manage outside counsel, and oversee the legal tech stack. The role emphasizes using AI tooling for automation and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Drive CLM adoption and enablement for self-service on standard deals.
- Own workflow optimization, templates, and playbooks.
- Perform first-pass review and redlining of standard agreements; draft from templates.
- Build and own structured intake for legal workstreams.
- Build AI-powered workflows, agents, and automations.
- Maintain the legal governance record, including privacy registers, AI inventory, and compliance calendars.
- Train cross-functional teams on self-service tools and escalation paths.
- Manage outside counsel relationships and the legal tech stack.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years in legal operations, paralegal, or contract management.
- 1-2 years in-house experience at a tech or SaaS company.
- Experience implementing or rebuilding a CLM (Ironclad preferred).
- Experience designing intake workflows.
- Experience standing up reporting that was relied upon.
- Experience reviewing and redlining commercial agreements (sell-side and buy-side).
- Comfortable operating with autonomy in a role with significant white space.
- Good judgment regarding workload management and escalation to lawyers.
- Cares about user adoption of built solutions.
