About the Role

The Operations Engineering Intern will work in a stimulating and challenging environment within a highly motivated team. This role offers the opportunity to learn and contribute to key functions in Operations Engineering, including Project Management, Project Execution & Performance Monitoring, Operating Model Design, and Technology Innovation.

Responsibilities

Architect and develop software, data pipeline, and automation tools to address business needs.
Analyze problems, devise solutions, and implement them using code.
Create dashboards for data visualization, manage cloud projects, and work within a DevOps environment.
Perform data analytics on data streaming from multiple factories in a multinational organization.
Interpret operational data for monthly executive reviews.
Model equipment performance using various data sources.
Collaborate with engineering and IT in a cross-functional team.
Work on technical projects related to production equipment connectivity.
Project manage the deployment of tools and processes into manufacturing operations.
Create requirements documents, procedures, technical reports, and training guides.
Utilize Google Workspace Tools and develop custom scripts using Apps Script (JavaScript), HTML/CSS.
Attend and discuss topics at weekly department meetings.
Create and present monthly project reviews for global operations.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Computer Science program and have completed the 3rd year.
Must be able to learn quickly and be self-motivated.
Possess excellent analytical abilities.
Comfortable supporting projects for deployment in a manufacturing environment.
Employment offer is conditional upon successful completion of a security assessment by Celestica and/or its authorized agents, per the Controlled Goods Regulations.

Skills

Proficiency in web development tools (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
Proficiency in Office productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).
Solid proficiency in Python (object-oriented programming, data structures, clean code practices).
Foundational web development skills (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST API concepts).
Understanding of standard algorithms, basic relational database queries (SQL), and spatial/matrix math concepts.
Experience gathering, cleaning, and transforming structured data (e.g., JSON, CSVs, database tables) using Python libraries.
Practical exposure to cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platforms (GCP) for resource management, VM operations, or basic experience running applications inside lightweight containers (e.g., Docker).
Working familiarity with Git, Linux/Windows environments, and basic cloud or automation environments (Google Workspace, GCP, Azure DevOps, or Apps Script).
Ability to evaluate existing code, isolate bugs, read technical documentation, and translate business needs into clean solutions.
Comfortable asking targeted questions, picking up new tools independently, and willingness to learn new paradigms.
Ability to gain a working understanding of manufacturing processes, shop-floor metrics, and basic business workflows.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across office and manufacturing facility environments.
Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Basic exposure to image processing, machine learning, or deep learning libraries (e.g., OpenCV, PyTorch).
Familiarity with Docker containerization, asynchronous messaging, or operations research/optimization concepts.
Exposure to web frameworks like FastAPI or real-time data streaming (WebSockets).
Ability to gather, clean, process, and combine data from different sources (ETL Pipelines).
Ability to gain a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and metrics.
Time management and ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines.
