About the Role

The Release Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Release Operations team, ensuring productivity targets are met while maintaining accurate and timely release and rating activities. This role involves coaching and mentoring team members, resolving operational issues, driving process efficiency, and partnering with management on workforce planning and operational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Release Operations team members on a day-to-day basis.
  • Recruit, coach, guide, train, plan, and develop team members.
  • Assist with performance reviews and identify development opportunities for team members.
  • Conduct staff meetings as required.
  • Review work flow to identify and remove production barriers and implement improved processes.
  • Provide feedback to management on schedule adjustment requirements based on demand flow.
  • Monitor team members against key performance indicators and communicate progress.
  • Ensure accurate and timely EDI release and rating of all shipments in all modes of transportation.
  • Assist the team to meet performance objectives as necessary.
  • Review vendor partner feedback and statistics on service level performance.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate relationships between vendor partners, Release Operations, Client Service Teams, Support Services, and other internal departments.
  • Provide technical expertise in Customs regulations.
  • Plan employee scheduling and hours of work to ensure efficient resource utilization in a 24/7 environment.
  • Accountable for Release Operations service levels.
  • Review and analyze changes in regulations and trade initiatives and identify impacts.
  • Identify process improvements and efficiencies to enhance client service and operations.
  • Participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of process changes.
  • Monitor Border hold work queues to ensure corrections and resolve escalations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead a team of employees in a service delivery environment while providing coaching and guidance.
  • Fully conversant with all applicable Customs laws, regulations, procedures, and industry practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a large volume of work.
  • Strong team player.
  • Must be able to work 2pm to 10:30pm, or 3pm to 11:30pm EST.
