About the Role

Lead Electrical Designer supporting EPC project design work for power generation projects. Responsible for managing a design team in the development of electrical raceway systems. Interfaces with other disciplines, engineering and construction throughout the life of the project. Manages budget schedules and resources. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction-drive engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.

Responsibilities

Manage a group of electrical designers in the development of electrical raceway systems.
Manage electrical design activities against project schedule and budget.
Track and report on design progression to project management and other members of the project.
Complete monthly reports for quantities, schedule and forecasting.
Interface with construction to ensure design is safe, constructible, and low cost.
Coordinate with other disciplines, engineers and construction on the design.
Check design deliverables for accuracy, quality and adherence to department standards.
Utilize applicable engineering national and local codes.
Coordinate with project team by utilizing the Project Database: Request for Review Process, Holds List, ECN, Request for information from other disciplines, and all other applicable functions.
Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
Act as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.
Mentor design team.

Requirements

At least 8 years’ experience in electrical design.
Experience leading electrical design teams.
Experience managing budget and schedule.
Power generation experience, preferred.
Experience in SmartPlant 3D.
Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment.
Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Regular, reliable attendance.
Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
