About the Role
The Family Worker is responsible for the programs’ parent involvement, serving as a liaison between the center and parents. This role involves assisting in recruitment, interviewing, and registration efforts, conducting in-takes and Family Partnership Agreements, and eliciting social and developmental information on children.
Responsibilities
- Maintain necessary records.
- Make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed.
- Work with families in a supportive fashion.
- Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and registration efforts in accordance with Agency policies and Early Head Start Regulations to determine eligibility of qualified individuals.
- Conduct In-Takes and Family Partnership Agreements.
- Show parents around the center.
- Elicit social and developmental information on the child, and share this information with teachers and other staff, maintaining confidentiality.
- Input information into the data master.
- Complete documentation.
- Prepare required reports to document compliance with guidelines on in-takes, eligibility, priorities, classroom attendance and records.
- Prepare In-Kind Reports.
- Receive and verify financial and other information needed to determine eligibility.
- Contact families to receive information, referrals, and other services such as employment, mental health, counseling, housing, etc., as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- 2 years of experience in Human Services required.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing & reaching.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
Skills
- Bilingual Spanish/English speaking preferred.
- Bilingual Russian/English speaking preferred.
- Bilingual Chinese/English speaking preferred.
- Bilingual Korean/English speaking preferred.
- Bilingual English/Creole speaking preferred.
