About the Role
The -CP-2 Certified performs advanced field testing of corrosion control systems on underground and submerged metallic structures. This role involves recommending and performing troubleshooting tests, identifying when such testing is required, and collaborating with engineering to determine design solutions. The position requires significant travel.
Responsibilities
- Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision, and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine the condition of structures under evaluation.
- Compile and submit field data for senior staff review.
- Be familiar with standard survey and construction practices for corrosion control projects.
- Estimate duration for both engineering and construction projects.
- Organize and perform multiple small to medium-sized projects simultaneously.
- Develop test procedures for complex troubleshooting.
- Evaluate field data and prepare draft reports for the area supervisor.
- Perform field design testing for cathodic protection solutions.
- Work with engineering to design cathodic protection systems.
Requirements
- Must have a current certification with AMPP (formerly NACE International) as a Cathodic Protection Technician CP-2 Certification.
- Requires 3-5 years minimum experience in the corrosion control industry, particularly related to cathodic protection work.
- Government contracts require U.S. Citizenship.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients, and management staff.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required for the job.
- Must possess a clean driving record and be able to operate a company vehicle.
- This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 60 pounds, and working in an all-weather environment.
- Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
- Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
