About the Role
KPMG is seeking an Internal Audit and Controls Intern to join their Audit and Assurance team. This role focuses on process, risk, and controls, leveraging AI and digital innovation to help clients navigate change.
Responsibilities
- Engage in assignments focused on process, risk, and controls, including internal audit risk assessments, planning, scoping, execution, and reporting.
- Conduct internal control assessment, design, and effectiveness testing.
- Manage stakeholder communications to support business objectives and client Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Assist in planning and executing risk, control, and internal audit projects using automation tools.
- Perform internal control testing and analyze results to determine the efficacy of business and IT processes and controls.
- Participate in internal audit engagements, performing analytical reviews of key client processes and data.
- Contribute to the preparation and analysis of internal audit findings and recommendations within reports.
- Learn and apply new and emerging technologies such as cyber, automation, artificial intelligence, modern ERP systems, and blockchain to engagements.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Must have additional academic credits to complete after the internship for degree and/or CPA eligibility.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques, including Generative AI applications.
- Ability to navigate MS Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills.
- Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes.
- Possess a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to apply professional judgment and skepticism.
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work.
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office.
- Must be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation.
- Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
