About the Role

Collaborate with the Day Habilitation Program Director and participants to develop and implement a daily schedule, assisting participants with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and treating them with respect.

Responsibilities

  • Engage participants in social conversations and self-awareness during program hours and transportation.
  • Discuss and implement appropriate behavior and social skills in various settings.
  • Promote academics, daily living skills, social skills, and vocational skills.
  • Participate in developing and completing participant goals.
  • Communicate program needs to the Director regarding supplies, vehicle maintenance, and participant issues.
  • Transport individuals to and from the program and during offsite activities.
  • Adhere to all State of New York and OPWDD rules and regulations for vehicle operation and participant transportation.
  • Maintain professionalism with participants in the community and building.
  • Maintain daily and monthly records, including goal sheets and logs.
  • Lead sessions on socialization and academics.
  • Actively engage with participants through conversation, modeling, and direct assistance.
  • Participate in all assigned JCC and OPWDD trainings.
  • Ensure all participant safeguards are met, including line of sight, proximity, and meal time protocols.
  • Assist participants with toileting as needed.
  • Administer medication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid NY State Driver’s License.
  • Experience in a human service-related environment.
