About the Role
This position reports directly to the store manager. The primary job functions include greeting customers, answering questions about merchandise, processing sales, maintaining a clean and organized store, and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Perform any or all duties of a General Store Staff as assigned by management
- Use a company provided vehicle to deliver or pick up parts and merchandise
- Handle incoming and outgoing merchandise in a timely manner
- Keep store and facility clean, safe, and organized
- Total bills, accept payment, and provide excellent customer service
- Greet each customer in a timely manner and answer the telephone within three (3) rings
- Answer customer questions regarding price, availability, and function of merchandise
- Obtain merchandise from shelf for customer or receives any merchandise selected from shelf by customer and creates invoice
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment
- Maintain outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service
- Total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill
- Accept payment and make change
- Wrap or bag merchandise for customers
- Obtain signature on charge invoices and accept payment and make change on cash invoices
- Correctly place any special orders as required by customer
- Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift (if necessary)
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise
- Set up advertising displays or arrange merchandise to promote sales
- Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise
- Bag or box orders accordingly
- Ensure outgoing transfers are processed properly and timely
- Clean shelves, counters, or tables
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat
- Maintain clean shipping supply area
- Comply with all OSHA and company safety procedures, rules, and regulations
- Perform custodial duties including sweeping warehouse/showroom, dusting shelves, organizing merchandise, cleaning and stocking restrooms, and keeping aisles clear
- Present a good image of the company through proper dress and attitude
- Participate in and complete sponsored and supported training
- Attend training or use electronic media to increase product knowledge
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management
- Maintain grounds and parking lot
- Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and appearance
Requirements
- Ability to work well with others and assist customer cooperatively and courteously
- Exemplary company work recorded, including attendance
- Must be able to work in a high paced, busy atmosphere
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Ability to read and write in English
- Must successfully complete background and criminal history checks
- Must pass a physical, human performance evaluation and a drug test
- Good understanding of and adherence to company policies and procedures
- Must maintain regular and prompt attendance
- Attitude that supports the Company’s goals and values
