About the Role
Responsible for underwriting and risk assessment of commercial lease and loan transactions, supporting the oversight of the underwriting process within an assigned line of business. This role involves preparing and reviewing analyses, approving transactions within assigned credit authority, and mentoring the underwriting team.
Responsibilities
- Reviews transaction terms and conditions of exposures generally between $1,000,000 and $25,000,000.
- Identifies the strength and experience of new and existing obligors and evaluates complex credit structures.
- Manages and oversees workflow and assignments of credit actions within the assigned area to ensure timely turnaround.
- Prepares financial statement spreads and reviews the adequacy of supporting financial information.
- Reviews key financial results, ratios, and transaction structure elements, including debt service coverage and loan to value.
- Prepares comprehensive Credit Offering Memoranda covering financial and credit risk elements and obligor credit profiles.
- Determines risk rating for transactions.
- Communicates with internal and external sources to request specific information required for analysis.
- Reviews, evaluates, and approves credit actions prepared by junior and mid-level underwriting staff within assigned credit authority.
- Makes recommendations to a senior-level underwriting position for transactions outside of credit authority.
- Participates in business opportunity meetings to determine potential investment interests.
- Develops and maintains portfolio monitoring reports and analysis.
- Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of risk ratings.
- Mentors, trains, and provides guidance to junior and mid-level underwriting staff.
- Assists with performance feedback and development for junior staff.
- Serves as a backup to the Director on select management and workflow responsibilities.
- Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Prepares annual reviews.
- Assists with departmental duties as directed by their manager.
Requirements
- Credit analysis and financial statement analysis experience required.
- Proficient knowledge and ability with MS Word and Excel.
- Minimum of eight (8) years foundational experience.
- Prior credit authority required.
- Prior mentoring or lead experience preferred.
Skills
- Strong to exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Experience Level
- Minimum of eight (8) years foundational experience.
Education Level
- Bachelor's degree (BA, BS, BBA, etc.) from a four-year college or university required.
- Concentration in Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
- Concentration in Accounting and/or Finance preferred; required for applicants with no prior relevant work experience.
