About the Role
This role involves developing, building, and operating a shared AKS deployment framework, requiring strong cloud engineering expertise, familiarity with platform-level services, and the use of AI-assisted tooling to enhance delivery. You will collaborate with partner teams to create an integrated, secure, and scalable developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Design the AKS cluster model for the Canadian segment.
- Implement infrastructure improvements with zero disruption to business operations.
- Build an integrated end-to-end experience for application development teams by combining AKS clusters with partner-provided capabilities (CI/CD, monitoring, logging, risk controls, security services).
- Automate cluster maintenance, operational workflows, and routine processes using Infrastructure-as-Code and AI-assisted tooling.
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and enhance deployment efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise risk and security standards across cluster design, operations, and governance.
- Monitor and maintain the health, performance, scalability, and security of AKS clusters.
- Partner with application development teams to ensure the shared cluster model meets business and technical needs.
- Collaborate with capability-owner teams to align standards, integrate services, and deliver a cohesive platform experience.
- Maintain positive relationships with business partners and shared technology teams, ensuring alignment on governance, roadmaps, and service delivery.
Requirements
- Experience in cloud computing (Azure strongly preferred).
- Expertise in automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.).
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, or similar) to improve automation, troubleshooting, and enhance engineering workflows.
- Experience operating or supporting shared platform services (e.g., shared Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD systems, observability platforms, security/risk tooling).
- Strong understanding of networking and security concepts.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (Azure AD, RBAC, workload identity).
- Proficiency with cloud networking infrastructure and distributed system patterns.
- Hands-on experience with API gateways and cloud-based architectures.
- Strong system administration background.
- Scripting/programming proficiency (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.).
- Experience with containers and Kubernetes (AKS experience is an asset).
