About the Role

Contributes to the overall success of Scotia McLeod in Canada, ensuring individual goals and initiatives are executed to support team business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Ensure a high level of client service by supporting Advisors in client portfolio reviews, identifying needs for Team of Experts services, and ensuring alignment with risk profiles and investment programs.
  • Gather research and product information from internal and external sources.
  • Enter client trades as directed by client or Advisor.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory rules and trading activities related to client accounts.
  • Ensure effective client administration by following up on missing documentation, maintaining client files, and checking daily trades for accuracy.
  • Respond to client inquiries promptly and resolve issues.
  • Issue instructions for client withdrawals, deposits, swaps, and transfers.
  • Accurately document all client interactions.
  • Understand documentation requirements for all client account types.
  • Provide marketing assistance to Advisors by identifying opportunities for additional assets and revenue within the existing client base.
  • Organize client events, including lunch & learns and seminars.
  • Maintain or coordinate electronic marketing.
  • Manage the approval process for all marketing and mass communication.
  • Support Advisor growth by reviewing and reducing restricted accounts.
  • Manage the Bank referral process.
  • Assist in idea generation.
  • Review daily commission reports and follow up on unpaid commissions.
  • Track External Household Program payments and follow up.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present reports and recommendations, financial plans/concepts, insurance, and annual trading summaries to the Advisor.
  • Provide recommendations for business process improvements, additional client value, and utilization of the Team of Experts.
  • Contribute to the effective functioning of the branch team by building relationships and maintaining high customer service levels.
  • Facilitate a culture of open and honest communication.
  • Actively participate and contribute to team meetings.
  • Encourage the generation of new ideas and approaches.
  • Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance team member development.
  • Develop and execute a meaningful employee development plan.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
  • Ensure the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
  • Take initiative and work independently on all administrative tasks.
  • Take direction from advisor(s) on client trading activity.

Requirements

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, including strong verbal and written communication skills, is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of industry and firm compliance regulations.
  • Ability to take direction from advisor(s) on client trading activity.
  • Post-Secondary Education.
  • All applicable education, examination, and training requirements for licensing and confirmed registration as an Investment Representative with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).
