About the Role
Spectrum Health Care is hiring Foot Care Nurses (RN/RPN) to provide specialized nursing care to patients with foot-related health issues in various settings. This role focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating foot conditions to prevent complications and improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough foot assessments, identify risk factors, and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide preventive care and treatment for foot conditions, including managing skin issues, trimming nails, addressing calluses, and treating ulcers and wounds.
- Implement strategies for pressure relief and offloading for high-risk patients.
- Educate patients on daily foot care, proper hygiene, and appropriate footwear.
- Follow strict infection control protocols and adhere to best practices for infection prevention.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records.
Requirements
- Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care certificate is required
- Prior experience in foot care is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Computer knowledge and ability to learn proprietary software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word preferred
- Fluency in a second language is an asset
