About the Role
Seeking a skilled CNC/Manual Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts meeting engineering specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on machining experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to use precision measuring equipment. Experience with CNC grinding is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, and job specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Set up and operate CNC grinding equipment, including loading and adjusting tooling and managing CNC programs.
- Upload, download, and edit CNC grinding programs to optimize cutting conditions, improve cycle times, and maintain part accuracy.
- Monitor machine settings, tool offsets, and grinding wheel conditions to ensure consistent quality.
- Select appropriate grinding wheels, abrasives, tooling, and cutting conditions based on material and application.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators to inspect parts.
- Adjust machine setups, tooling, and offsets as needed to produce parts to print specifications.
- Perform routine machine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate production records, tooling setup sheets, inspection documentation, and other required records.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and work with engineering and production teams to improve processes.
- Train and support operators in CNC grinding procedures and standard work instructions.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical drawings, and job specifications.
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and inspection techniques.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
- Strong understanding of general mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to accurate documentation and quality control.
