About the Role
The CP-1 Certified performs basic field testing of corrosion control systems on underground and submerged metallic structures. This role requires recommending troubleshooting tests and identifying when such testing is required. The position involves 75-80% travel on weekdays.
Responsibilities
- Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision, and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine the condition of structures under evaluation.
- Compile and submit field data for senior staff review.
- Be familiar with standard survey and construction practices for corrosion control projects.
- Estimate duration for both engineering and construction projects.
- Organize and perform multiple small projects simultaneously.
- Develop test procedures for complex troubleshooting.
- Evaluate field data and prepare draft reports for the area supervisor.
Requirements
- Have a current certification with AMPP (formerly NACE International) as a Cathodic Protection Tester CP-1 Certification.
- 1-3 years minimum experience in the corrosion control industry, particularly related to cathodic protection work.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for government contracts.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients, and management staff.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required for the job.
- Clean driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle.
- This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 60 pounds, and working in an all-weather environment.
- Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
