About the Role
AIAF is seeking a Partnerships Lead to serve as the bridge to the AI safety funding ecosystem, cultivating relationships with potential and existing funders and communicating the organization's progress.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with AI safety researchers, grantmakers, and potential collaborators
- Communicate AIAF's research agenda, results, and theory of impact clearly and accurately
- Write grant proposals for research and government work in collaboration with other AI safety researchers/organizations
- Seek candid feedback, distinguish misunderstandings from substantive disagreements, and help respond constructively
- Turn promising conversations into research collaborations and funding opportunities, working alongside research and fundraising colleagues
- Identify and attend events likely to lead to valuable relationships or opportunities
- Build and sustain strong relationships from the first interaction
- Serve as a strong ambassador for AIAF and help build visibility and reputation
Requirements
- Deep familiarity with AI safety and the broader AI safety ecosystem
- Existing relationships within the AI safety community are a significant advantage
- Strong communication skills, spoken and written
- Technical fluency to engage seriously with alignment research, including the ability to read a research paper and clearly explain its core idea
- High agency and comfort operating independently
- Ability to exercise good independent judgment
- Ability to follow through without extensive direction

Salary/Compensations
- $150,000–$300,000 annual salary (full-time)
- Compensation prorated based on the full-time salary range and expected hours (part-time employee or contractor)
- Compensation above these ranges may be considered for exceptional candidates
