About the Role
As a nonprofit organization supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, our work is about much more than compliance. It’s about protecting the people we serve, supporting our staff, strengthening our systems, and making sure we continue to deliver the highest quality services possible. You’ll be an important part of our Quality Assurance team, helping us understand what happened, why it happened, and—most importantly—how we can make things better.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations involving reportable incidents, allegations of abuse or neglect, and other significant events.
- Review information, interview staff and others, gather documentation, and connect the dots to determine what happened.
- Help ensure investigations and follow-up activities meet applicable OPWDD, Justice Center, 14 NYCRR Part 624, and Part 483 requirements.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with managers and departments to strengthen practices and prevent future issues.
- Support quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
- Help ensure our programs and services remain safe, compliant, and focused on the people we serve.
- Travel between agency locations as needed.
Requirements
- Thoughtful, objective, organized, and comfortable asking questions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Human Services, Nursing, a clinical or health-related field, or a related field of study.
- At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience in incident management, investigations, quality improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
- Experience conducting investigations involving reportable incidents, allegations of abuse or neglect, and other significant events in accordance with OPWDD requirements, Justice Center regulations, 14 NYCRR Part 624, and Part 483 regulations.
- Experience working with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) is preferred.
- A valid New York State driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation to travel between agency locations.
