About the Role

Research Operations owns the work behind every model launch, review, and cross-team program, bringing clarity to ambiguity and providing stability during change. This role embeds with the leadership of the reinforcement learning (RL) organization to shape leadership's priorities, ensure timely decision-making, and clear the path for leaders to focus on high-leverage work. You will report to the Manager of Research Operations and work daily with RL org leaders and their teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own leadership's time by shaping the week around priorities, setting agendas for decision-making, and cutting non-critical tasks.
  • Triage incoming items by resolving, routing, or escalating as appropriate.
  • Enable wise decision-making and follow-through by providing necessary information, communicating decisions, and tracking commitments.
  • Anticipate problems by surfacing resourcing gaps, technical bottlenecks, and stalled action-items.
  • Scale leadership voice by drafting materials for org-wide announcements, programming, and planning sessions.
  • Improve organizational efficiency by identifying and addressing recurring friction points.
  • Act as a thought partner by offering candid counsel and constructive disagreement to leaders.

Requirements

  • Deep care for Anthropic's mission, guiding all judgment calls.
  • Technical fluency to engage substantively with researchers, understanding the model training process.
  • Clear writing skills to summarize dense material into actionable plans.
  • An eye for great dashboards and identifying improvements for clarity.
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Ability to push back on senior stakeholders, offer strategic guidance, disagree without discord, and influence without direct authority.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-changing, high-stakes environment.
  • Experience in an operations, chief of staff, program management, or comparable role supporting senior leaders in a fast-moving technical organization.
