About the Role
This is a full-time position focused on the production and care of vegetables, flowers, and plants, encompassing both greenhouse and outdoor cultivation. The role requires a hands-on approach for individuals passionate about growing plants, working outdoors, and contributing to a small farm team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of vegetable and flower production, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently while supporting the farm's overall operations.
Responsibilities
- Start vegetables, flowers, and herbs from seed.
- Manage greenhouse production from seeding through transplanting.
- Prepare and maintain garden beds and growing areas.
- Plant, transplant, weed, cultivate, and maintain crops.
- Care for flower crops from seed through harvest.
- Monitor plants for pests, disease, and other growing concerns.
- Water and fertilize crops as needed.
- Assist with natural and sustainable growing practices.
- Harvest, wash, sort, and prepare produce and flowers for sale.
- Assist with crop planning, succession planting, and harvest scheduling.
- Maintain clean and organized greenhouse and garden areas.
- Maintain and organize gardening tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Prepare plants, produce, and flowers for the farm market and farmers markets.
- Assist with basic livestock care.
- Feed and water animals.
- Clean stalls and animal areas.
- Assist with sheep, cattle, and other livestock.
- Help with general farm maintenance and cleanup.
- Assist with farmers markets and the on-site farm market.
- Help with farm events and special projects.
Requirements
- Experience growing vegetables, flowers, or other crops.
- Knowledge of starting plants from seed.
- Experience with greenhouse and/or outdoor growing.
- Understanding of planting, transplanting, harvesting, and crop maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physical farm work.
- Willingness to work around livestock and assist with general farm chores when needed.
- Positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever help is needed.
