About the Role
Under the direct supervision of a physician, the Physicians Associate provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services. This role involves treating patients with a range of physical ailments, from superficial injuries to acute medical disorders, in a structured environment with ample supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient health through interviews and medical history updates, documenting patient care services.
- Performs physical examinations, provides treatment and counsel, and initiates emergency medical treatment when necessary.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory studies, and interprets results.
- Performs therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care management.
- Counsels patients on prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient records, developing and implementing patient management plans.
- Ensures a safe and clean work environment by adhering to infection-control and safety protocols.
- Provides education on pre and post-operative evaluation and treatment plans.
- Oversees scheduling and medical clearance for all surgical cases.
- Assists physicians during surgery or complicated medical procedures.
- May prescribe medication.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelors/Masters in a PA program
- Prior Physician's Associate experience
- NY PA License
- NY PA Registration
- NCCPA certification
- DEA registration
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NPI number
- Infection Control training
